Tips for a healthier YOU in 2015

Congrats, You have made it through another year! I hope your 2014 was amazing but if your like me 2015 is about to be one of the best/busiest (not to mention most important) year of your life! My new years resolution is to be more organized and reach EVERY goal I have set for myself this year. In this post I'm going to give you some tips on a healthier you in the upcoming year.

1.  Say goodbye to Soda

Saying goodbye to soda was my new years resolution 2 years ago and I've been soda free since! At first, I'm not going to lie, not having that coke or diet coke sucks...but after a month or so you will not even miss them. It is so rewarding knowing I put my mind to something and I have stuck to it. NOTHING about soda is good for you, so why drink it? If your looking to lose weight in the new year or to better your health, start by cutting out soda. I promise you feel better and save money.

Replace soda with healthier drinks like water or green tea (diet lipton green tea is the bomb). Before I eliminated soda from my life, you could not get me to drink a bottle of water. Now I drink about 3-4 a day. My skin has cleared up, my teeth are whiter, and I'm ultimately a healthier person. You can do it!

2. Find a workout that suits you and your schedule

One of the most important elements in being healthy is being active in some way shape or form. If I don't have practice, I'm at the gym doing cardio and strength training to make my self the best I can be. Everyone has different schedules and time that they can do physical activity. If your looking to be healthier in 2015, find a time that you can workout that fits your schedule. My designated time is right after school from about 3:30-4:45 (More about my workouts coming soon). Mornings or nights may fit into schedule. Try and set 30 min at least to work out. Nothing is more satisfying than finishing a good workout...it relieves stress as well. The girl in this picture didn't get this body by sitting on the couch!

Next, find a workout that best suits you. This is so important!! Pinterest has some great at home workouts you can do. Invest in some dumbbells, they will become your best friend.  Know your limits and set goals for yourself. If you need help with designing a workout for yourself, comment below and i will be happy to help! Bikini season here YOU come!

3. Find healthy meals you can make

The number one way to be healthy is to eat heathy. I've learned this the hard way. I started to finally see results and my body change after cleaning up what I ate. Pinterest has some yummy healthy recipes. Eating heathy means driving past McDonalds, Wendy's, pretty much any fast food place. If your looking to slim your tummy this year or lose any type of weight...eat clean and healthy. I plan out what I eat pretty much everyday. Planning ahead makes it much easier to eat healthy. Below are a few of my favorite healthy things to eat. Eating heathy is a challenge, but it is so worth it.

       Breakfast:                                        Lunch:                                      Dinner:
-healthy smoothie                         - salad with light ranch                 - stir fry
-egg whites with wheat toast        - grilled chicken wrap                   - grilled chicken
-greek yogurt                                - black bean soup                          - vegetable soup

    Snacks:                                               Healthy Fast Food:
  - greek yogurt                                  -Chick-fil-a grilled chicken sandwich
  - veggies and light ranch                 - Panera Salad (very little dressing)
  - almonds                                         - Chick-fil-a grilled chicken wrap

Other tips:

- Cute workout clothes are always motivation to workout
- get the app My Fitness Pal.... I use it everyday to help track what I eat and my calories.
- get lots of sleep
- set goals

I hope the tips above are helpful for you in becoming healthier during 2015. Heath is so important and most people neglect it. Join me in becoming the best version of YOU this year. God blessed you with your body so take care of it. Your body is a temple and a gift from God. Thank you all for reading and comment if you have any questions or need any help with workouts or foods! Heres to 2015!

Pretty in Pink

Sweater     |     Flannel     |    Grey V-Neck     |    Just Fab   |    Necklace

Welcome cold weather and welcome layers! I took a trip to Forever 21 the other day and added some winter essentials to my closet. You can get all three of these tops at Forever 21 and for a pretty good price. This warm knit sweater adds a feminine touch and pretty pastel effect to my look. Right now it is on sale for $16 (link above) and comes in 2 other colors! Who doesn't love a cute flannel. The colors in this flannel make it wearable all year long! I love flannels because you can dress them up with a sweater like I have or pair one with leggings and converse for a cute lazy look. Once again I'm wearing my favorite booties from JustFab.com and my favorite jeans from AE.

My cousin gave me this adorable Tennessee necklace for Christmas today. It's from a super cute boutique in Hendersonville called Blooms Designs! Lastly, lets talk about my weakness...Kate Spade! I recently got this bag and I'm pretty sure I've carried it everyday since then! I love the color of it because I can carry it with pretty much any outfit.

Thanks for reading today!! 4 days until Christmas Eve! Big thanks to my sister for taking amazing pictures!

Transition Vest

Loft Jeans     |    JustFab     |    Fringe Tan Vest
Icing     |     Striped Shirt

Happy Saturday everyone! This is a summer vest that I have paired with a tan and white long sleeve striped shirt to transition my vest into fall/winter. I love finding pieces of clothing I can wear all year long. I added a pop of color by wearing teal earrings. Once again I am wearing my favorite booties from JustFab.com to keep my color pallet in the tan family. When wearing light colors as your top, keep your jeans or pants on the dark side.

My vest is from Body Central. I got it in the summer so it is no longer available but no worries I have found some similar vest. Here is a super cute tan vest with fringe accents. Here (only $13.49) is another vest that is tan with tribal print and also fringe details at the bottom. Both of these vests could be paired with a cute tank top and jean shorts for summer or over a long sleeve shirt or sweater for the fall and winter.  My shirt is from Abercrombie kids (go ahead and laugh). I have had it since I was in middle school. I found a super cute tan and white striped shirt here that is originally $90 but on sale for $29 (your welcome). I might have to add this one to my closet!

My straight jeans are a super dark wash from loft. Loft has an awesome petite section for small girls like me! Here  they are and they are 40% online now! My jewelry is from Icing. You can always find a cute pair of earrings or a bracelet set that won't break the bank. To find out details about my booties check out my post Weekend of Football. I recently got 2 pairs of boots for only $50 from JustFab. Check it out if you have not yet!

Thank you for reading today. Im still learning about blogging and constantly trying to make mine better! Comment below if you have any questions or requests for me!! Also share with your friends. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Distressed Denim

Oh how we all love us a good pair of distresed jeans. They can be chic with heals, booties, flats...or casual with a pair of converse. I went with a mixture of  casual and chic. My jeans are from American Eagle. If you petite like me they are long but size 00 fits good in the waist. My shirt is a simple black V-Neck from Khols (similar). I am looking for a darker washed pair of distressed jeans, comment if you have any suggestion.

You can also make your own pair of distressed jeans if you are up for it. It does save money! There are lots of great tutorials on Pinterest and YouTube.

Here are some distressed jeans I found.. American Eagle High Rise , American Eagle Skinny (love) , Express Acid Wash. American Eagle is having a 40% + free shipping and Express is having a 50% + free shipping sale going on today!

I paired my jeans with a classic pair of black leather booties (similar) . (tip: roll your jeans up when wearing ankle booties to get the full effect). Ive also seen a lot of cute outfits on pinterest with pointed toe heels and pointed toe flats.

I also added a white fringe kimono from wet seal. This is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. It goes with so much! To go along with my casual look, I put my hair in a loose high pony tail and kept my make up simple and finished my look off with my signature lipstick color. Heres to a new week! Try out a distressed denim look this week!

Military Chick

Happy Sunday everyone!! We are one day closer to yummy turkey and fun family time! Last night I watched Mocking Jay part 1 (if you have not seen it go asap). It was awesome! This is what I wore to the movies. You could dress it up with more jewelry, jeans, or curled hair. I wanted to be comfy yet cute so I went with leggings.

I love headbands period. They automatically make you look more pulled together and they add a little glam to a pony tail, braid, or even a messy hair look like mine. I got this headband from Franchescas. This is my favorite one because I can wear it with anything. Invest in some good headbands. They will save you from bad hair days (oh how we hate them). Francesca's Headbands

My shirt is from American Eagle (here). It is jogging material (so soft) and its only $14.99 online right now! I've always loved stripes and they are IN this year. They go with so many things. You can not have enough stripped shirts.

Ahh, Military green jacket. I honestly never thought I would buy or wear a "military" jacket but boy was I wrong. I wear this jacket anytime I can. It's super lightweight but still keeps me warm. I got this jacket from Maurices. They have some super cute clothes (lots for plus size) and for reasonable prices. I am looking for a longer, more heavy weight army jacket to wear this winter. If you have any suggestions comment please!!

To tie together my military chick look, I decided to wear my cream colored combat boots. I don't wear these a ton but I think they are adorable. Don't be afraid to try new styles like edgy combat boots! Everyone can pull them off. I got these from Forever 21 (last Christmas). Here are some similar boots (here) and (here)

Thanks for reading today! Comment if you have any suggestions on blogs I should do. Also comment if you know of any cute army style jackets. Have a blessed Sunday everyone!
